PUBLIC NOTICE
NOTICE OF MUNICIPAL ELECTION

Qualifying for the March 9, 2010, Municipal Election ended at noon, Friday, January 22, 2010. Although there are only two districts requiring an election, an election will be held in all four districts due to referendum ballot on Charter changes.

The following candidates have qualified to run for office as follows:

  • Rusty Johnson
  • Scott Anderson


  • Mayor
  • S. Scott Vandergrift (unopposed)



  • In addition to the election of two Commissioners, the ballot in March 2010 will contain questions for recommended changes to the City of Ocoee Charter. These changes were recommended by a Charter Review Commission comprised of Ocoee residents; their report was reviewed and amended by the City Commission and the final results are placed on the ballot for all residents (who are registered voters) to vote on. Ordinance 2009-030 adopting the ballot questions will also provide the actual text changes to the Charter. The eight ballot questions are as follows:

Estos cambios fueron recomendados por una Comisión de Revisión de los Estatutos compuesta por residentes de Ocoee.     Register to Vote
    All eligible citizens are urged to take part in this election process. If you are 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, a resident of the City of Ocoee and of the specific District of any office being sought, have not been adjudicated mentally incapacitated with respect to voting in Florida or any other state, have not been convicted of a felony without your civil rights having been restored pursuant to law, and do not claim the right to vote in another municipality, please be aware that you have a right to be registered to vote in this election.     Early Voting
    Residents who are unable to vote on Election Day, may vote early at the Supervisor of Elections Office, 119 West Kaley Street, Orlando, Florida, between February 22 and March 6, 2010, between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Saturday. Closed Sunday. Other Early voting polling locations and times may be designated by the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office on February 7, 2010.

    Absentee Ballots
    Those electors who need to cast an absentee ballot for this election must contact the Orange County Supervisor of Elections either by writing to Supervisor of Elections, P O Box 562001, Orlando, Florida 32856-2001 or by calling (407) 836-2070 and requesting an absentee ballot.
