Welcome to the Building Division!

The Building Division is comprised of two sections:
Building and Local Business Taxes.
The Building Division is responsible for the administration
and enforcement of the various local building codes, ordinances
and state and federal laws and rules associated with
construction. Such responsibilities apply to new structures,
alterations, repairs, additions to existing buildings and moving
buildings. Duties include review of applications and plans for
code compliance, permit issuance and inspections for compliance
with the approved documents.
The Division also administers and enforces zoning,
construction, sanitation, and any other codes that have an
effect on the health, safety and general welfare of the public.
Additionally, the Division has the responsibility for the
collection of Local Business Taxes. Staff is responsible for
performing inspections of new and existing business locations,
reviewing fire department inspection comments and making
corrections for improvements as necessary.

public safety, health and general welfare for the citizens of
Ocoee and the general public.

The Building Official oversees the everyday operation of the
Building Division Staff, reviews commercial plans, meets with
contractors and property owners regarding permit applications,
and construction issues, etc.

This position reviews residential plans for code compliance,
meets with contractors and homeowners regarding permit
applications, provides coverage for daily inspections, and acts on behalf of the
Building Official in his absence. Also, is responsible for
supervising the inspection staff.

These positions are responsible for performing daily assigned
inspections, meeting with contractors and homeowners regarding
permitted work, answers questions regarding code compliance in
the field and the office, etc.
