ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT - ABOUT US |
| The Engineering Department has the primary responsibility in City government to:

review utility and public works
infrastructure plans for proposed development,
- inspect developer-constructed
improvements,
- manage the capital investment program
of the City,
- design and construct capital
improvements,
- process development platting,
- process land splits,
- provide geographic information
services to City government,
- manage right-of-way utilization, and
- acquire new properties required for
City projects.
The Department also assists
other agencies in the performance of their duties, such
as the Finance Department with capital budget
preparation and grant management, the Public Works
Department with traffic operations and stormwater
management, and the Utilities Department with facilities
planning and management. In concert with the
Development Services Administration, City Engineering
staff negotiate with developers to ensure they provide a
fair-share proportion of existing infrastructure
improvements for new development. In addition,
City Engineering staff work with members of state
agencies and other local governments to coordinate
infrastructure improvements within the Joint Planning
Area.
