July is National Parks and
Recreation Month
Saturday, July 18th
The City of Ocoee and the National
Recreation and Park Association (NRPA)
proclaim July as Recreation and Parks
Month. Since 1985, the NRPA has
designated the month of July as a way to
celebrate each city's summer programming
as well as a time to pull their
communities together to volunteer, and
get involved in great outdoor family
activities. Research shows that 75% of
Americans live within two miles of a
public park or recreation facility and
more than 75% of the population takes
advantage of their local parks and
recreation facilities; this amounts to a
about 192 million people visiting
annually.
