POLICE CHIEF CHARLES "CHARLIE" BROWN
Chief Charlie Brown Speech
Charles "Charlie" Brown was appointed the Police Chief for the City of Ocoee on Monday, August 18, 2008. The department's diverse workforce is comprised of 117 employees who stand ready to serve the nearly 35,000 citizens in approximately 18 square miles.

In 1992, Chief Brown joined the Ocoee Police Department with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Sociology. Since joining the Ocoee Police Department, Chief Brown has continued his education at the University of Central Florida (UCF), earning a Graduate Certificate in Police Leadership in 2005 and a Master's Degree is Criminal Justice in 2007. In addition, Chief Brown has completed the Command Officers Development Course through the Southern Police Institute.

As an Ocoee police officer for 16 years, Chief Brown has worked his way up through the agency. Areas worked include patrol, field training, traffic enforcement and bicycle patrol. In 1997, Brown was promoted to sergeant and worked as a patrol supervisor for all shifts where he also managed the Field-Training Program. In 1998, he was transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division as sergeant. In 2002, Brown was selected as Ocoee Police Officer of the Year. As Lieutenant and Deputy Chief, Chief Brown worked in Patrol Operations overseeing the uniformed patrol function including the traffic enforcement unit, crossing guards and TAC unit. Brown has acquired personnel and resources during years of grant writing.

Charlie is a committee member of the City of Ocoee's Founders' Day and chairman of the Police Officers' and Firefighters' Pension.

Charlie has definitely paid his dues, and with his experience and dedication to the city of Ocoee, look for him to make a positive impact on Ocoee's police department while keeping the city, "The Center of Good Living."
