CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS
In the past, detectives were assigned cases as they came in to the agency. The Criminal Investigation Division has since reorganized from general investigations detectives to specialized investigators such as Narcotics Investigation. Specialization allows detectives to spot trends, patterns and common suspects.

Property Detectives investigate the theft of and damage to property and structures. These crimes include grand theft auto, criminal mischief, trespassing, and burglary. Economic Detectives handle schemes to defraud, worthless checks, crimes against intellectual property, and identification theft. Person Detectives caseloads include violent crimes such as assault, child abuse, robbery, sexual battery, and death investigations.
