Big Orange Games
The Parks and Recreation Department Annual Big Orange Games event is canceled.
The goal of the Big Oranges Games is to provide physically challenged youth and adults with an opportunity to participate in an annual sporting event where they can show that ‘disabled’ does not mean ‘unable’.
Last year, participants ranging from 5 to 25 years old with cerebral palsy, spinal lesions, blindness, les autres, amputees and autism competed in the games. Friends, family, volunteers and staff were on hand to support the athletes who competed in track and field events such as the 40, 60, and 100 yard dash, club throw, discus, shot put, softball throw, and long jump. An awards ceremony was held at the end of the competition to present the athletes with Big Orange Games medals.
