The City of Ocoee Fire Department has offered to extend the opportunity to local residents to participate in their Citizen’s Public Safety Academy since April 2014. The Citizens Public Safety Academy consists of 10 sessions held on consecutive Wednesday evenings. Each session begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. Each week will alternate between the Ocoee Fire Department and Ocoee Police Department. Academy participants have the opportunity to learn about, observe, and participate in the various activities and services the Ocoee Fire Department and Ocoee Police Department provide. The Citizen’s Public Safety Academy will conclude with a graduation ceremony and dinner with on-duty firefighters. Each academy member will also receive a certification of completion commemorating his or her experience.

To be eligible:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Have no criminal record that would prevent being hired by a Fire Department
Preference will be given to City of Ocoee Residents and Employees
Participants will be required to sign a release & waiver of liability
